Florida Youth Leadership Academy (FYLA)

The Florida Youth Leadership Academy (FYLA) started in December 2007 in Orlando, Florida. Originally a professional development project, it has become a statewide mentorship and leadership program. FYLA focuses on youth in the child welfare system. It aims to inspire leadership, build healthy relationships, and promote community engagement.

National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC)

The National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC) believes those with lived experience in unjust systems should lead reform efforts. The NACCLR Advisory Council includes young leaders (ages 18-30) with experience in the child welfare system. Members advise NACC on policies and projects, advocate for children’s rights, and serve on committees.

Florida Youth SHINE empowers current and former foster youth to influence child welfare policies and engage in advocacy. It provides opportunities to develop leadership skills and make a difference. One Voice Impact

One Voice Impact, led by the Selfless Love Foundation, empowers foster youth to share their stories and influence policies and programs. The program offers a platform for youth to develop leadership skills and make a meaningful impact on foster care systems. It provides advocacy training, mentorship, and opportunities to engage with policymakers. By amplifying their voices, foster youth help shape the future of child welfare reform.

Florida Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office CHAMPIONS

The Florida Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office CHAMPIONS are dedicated child welfare advocates who use their lived experiences in the Florida foster care system to influence and improve child advocacy practices. They play a crucial role in shaping policy, informing practices, and enhancing the effectiveness of child welfare initiatives at both local and state levels.

NFYI| Congressional Leadership & Shadow Day

The National Foster Youth Institute (NFYI) Congressional Leadership Academy is a 10-month program for former foster youth (ages 18-30). It offers monthly skill-building workshops to help raise awareness about child welfare challenges. Participants attend the Congressional Foster Youth Shadow Day in Washington, D.C. Workshops cover community organizing, advocacy, and child welfare policy.
