Congressional Internship Program (CIP)

CHCI’s Congressional Internship Program (CIP) offers paid internships during the Summer and Fall, designed to fit your college schedule. This program immerses students in the legislative process and Latino leadership development. Interns work closely with accomplished leaders, including CHCI Alumni, from diverse fields such as Capitol Hill, Fortune 500 companies, NGOs, and nonprofits dedicated to Latino education and leadership.

Who Can Apply

  • You must be enrolled full time and working towards their undergraduate degree in the academic period before participation.
  • Recent graduates who graduate in the term immediately prior to the program session may apply.
  • Preference for a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Evidence of leadership skills and potential for growth.
  • Demonstrated involvement in public service-oriented activities.
  • Superior analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, asylees, or individuals lawfully authorized to work in the U.S. International students on F-1 or M-1 visas are not eligible.

Deadline

  • Summer 2026 Internship: December 01, 2025
  • Fall 2026 Internship: March 01, 2026

Helpful Tips

  • To be considered under DACA policy you must have valid employment authorization at the time of acceptance and maintain continuous authorization throughout the program.
  • Highlight your interest in public service and leadership.
  • Request recommendations early to ensure they are completed on time.
  • Be prepared to discuss your goals and how the internship will help achieve them.
