Wellroot Family Services Scholarship

The Wellroot Family Services Scholarship program supports youth who have experienced foster care, homelessness, and other significant challenges, and it recognizes students for their community service, academic performance, and demonstrated leadership in school.

Who Can Apply

  • Be high school seniors or graduates, current postsecondary undergraduates, or graduate level students in the U.S.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four- year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S. for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent

Helpful Tips

  • If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
  • One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than December 19, 2025 at 3:00 PM Central Time.
  • When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email.
  • Make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

How Does It Work

Award Amounts

Awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,500 will be granted. The award amounts will vary based on the designated funds available.

Non-Renewable Awards

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply each year as long as they meet the eligibility requirements. Students are eligible for only one award per year.

Selection Process

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Wellroot Family Services play a part in the selection.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in February 2026. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Funds Disbursement

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Wellroot Family Services. Awards will be paid in one installment in early August. No deferrals will be granted. Awards must be used in the award year that they are granted.
