Dondiego Family Youth Scholarship Fund

Dondiego Family Youth Scholarship Fund, formerly known as the Youth Scholarship, aims to assist youth who have faced challenges related to foster care or homelessness by providing financial support to help them pursue higher education. It focuses on alleviating some of the financial burdens associated with college and university education.

Scholarships will be awarded for each of the following:

  • Foster Care – Youth in foster care at time of application or foster care alumni.
  • Kinship Care – Youth in kinship care at time of application or kinship care alumni.
  • Adoptive – Youth adopted from the foster care system.
  • Resource Family Biological Youth – Birth child of a resource family.
  • Continuing Education – Former foster youth wishing to continue their education through Technical School enrollment or College enrollment beyond their first year.

Who Can Apply

  • You must be 17 and no more than 21 years of age.
  • You must have a parent, or other supportive adult, that is a member of the NFPA. They can join at https://nfpaonline.org/membership
  • You must be in your senior year of high school (regardless of age).

What To Provide

  • Application and all attachments must be submitted before the year’s posted deadline.
  • You must provide a copy of the high school transcript.
  • A minimum of two letters of recommendation from foster parents, social workers, residential center, principal/teacher/guidance counselor, or employer.
  • Essay in 300-500 words on the topic, “How my foster care experience has impacted my future educational goals.”
  • Must provide a copy of college acceptance.
  • Must provide proof of enrollment.
