Black History Makers Grant

In celebration of Black History Month. Citi Trends, Inc. provides selected Black entrepreneurs with Grants to help advance and further their businesses. You can apply to win a $5,000 grant for your business.

Who Can Apply

  • 18 years or older
  • Based in one of the following states: AL, AR, CA, CT, DE, FL GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NV, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, or WI
  • Must be a Black entrepreneur or a Black owner in a Black majority-owned business
  • Have a business history offering its services and/or selling its products.
  • Businesses involved in the manufacturing, distribution or sale of food, beverages, supplements, and the like are excluded.

Deadline

  • Applications for The Black History Makers Campaign for 2025 has ended. Check back next year to apply.

How Does It Work

Complete an Application

Fill out the application form, ensuring all required fields are accurately completed with your personal and business information.

Grant Application Period

The grant application period is open for submissions. Make sure to submit your application before the period closes.

Selection Process

The first 10,000 qualifying submissions will be reviewed. Out of these, ten grant recipients will be selected.

Tie-Breaker

If there’s a tie among the top submissions, the applicant who performs better during the interview phase will be chosen.
